Job Description: Auditor

Dynamic, industry leading, Minnesota-based Value Added Tax (VAT) refund claims preparation service has immediate need within the Audit team. Accelerated promotional opportunities characterize this position. You will focus on providing clients with a comprehensive, quality, service-oriented approach to VAT claims preparation and processing including the development, implementation and maintenance of processes, procedures and systems. An auditor partners with TTM staff to ensure the smooth operation and execution of activities with regard to client documentation, and works to continuously identify and remove any barriers that might impede customer satisfaction with claims preparation while maximizing client refunds for the entire organization. This opportunity is full time with non-traditional work hours driven by deadlines and volume of work. Significant travel required.

Tasks Performed Most Often

  • Plan the refund process by examining client expense patterns for the organization as a whole
  • Travel to client locations collecting documentation from client expense files
  • Provide support and information on VAT refund requirements by country
  • Identify qualifying international business expenses including sales office, branch office or representative-office expenses, VAT charged in error, warrantee work performed abroad and trade show expenses
  • Review and analyze claims and audits, remediating errors where appropriate
  • Process client receipts and invoices
  • Data entry
  • Process requests for tax status certifications (IRS form 6166)
  • Assist clients in claim submission to the appropriate foreign tax office including registration, form preparation and deadline compliance
  • Perseverance with language barriers, critical filing deadlines and rules that are constantly changing
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Provide management reports on all VAT claims
  • Correspond with vendors to correct, complete or verify vendor invoices
  • Stay abreast of updates and changes to refund procedures and/or processes
  • Prepare and follow procedure and budget requirements for travel and personal expenses
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to lift and carry 30–40 pounds of equipment and supplies to client locations
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred; second language skill beneficial
